The Moustache

Moustache Update

October 15, 2008

As we all know, this past weekend was Thanksgiving. Now i could be writing a post about how visiting with my family was, or how nice it was to see all my friends that i haven’t seen since the summer. But let’s get down to the real news of the weekend, my moustache. To be honest I wasn’t sure how people would react to my new piece of facial hair. And as i expected, it recieved both good and bad reviews, mostly bad. But this did not discourage me, each negative comment like “creepy,” “gross,” or “you’re too young” was overshadowed by the “that’s awesome” or “that looks good.” And it wanted me to keep the dream alive. In my opinion I think it doesn’t look that bad, and i am working on getting a picture of it on here for you all to see. But the problem is that i do not own a camera.

But do not fear, I have a moustache, I will figure it out.

Embarking on a Lifelong Journey

October 7, 2008

As of last Friday, I, Jordan Campbell, have made a life changing decision. I have decided to grow hair in the area below my nose, and just above my upper lip. Yes, I am growing a moustache.

Now you may be wondering why I am making such a big deal about this. Well, it has a lot to do with family pride. My father has had a moustache since he was a young man, I have never seen him without it. His brother has one as well. Heck, there are even Campbells I’m not related to from Wapella that have moustaches.

This is a topic I have frequently brought up with my older brother, and sadly he will not succumb to moustache culture. My cousins who bear the Campbell name are also opposed to this rich moustache heritage. So I have taken it upon myself to keep the dream alive, and proudly grow this noble piece of facial hair. I will wear it proudly, and i will not be ashamed.

I am a Campbell, and I have a moustache.

Learning

October 7, 2008

To me, learning is something that is always happening. And the best part about it is that it doesn’t always have to be in school. Like just the other day I learned that bacon and KD is an excellent combination.

For me, and I’m sure this is the case for many of you as well, learning occurs most often when it’s something that that I’m passionate about, or really enjoy doing. I love math (three cheers for math..) and to me it doesn’t feel like a chore to do and it doesn’t feel like work most of the time. Whereas something like doing readings for the STS class i took bored the hell out of me, resulting in my lowest marks of last winter.

As far as how i learn best, I guess i learn best when i can see what I’m trying to learn. I guess some of you would call that a visual learner. But I also see myself as being very kinestetic with my learning. I love hands on aspects of things, and i just tend to learn things better in this fasion. It all fits in with assessment for learning rather that assessment of learning, but since for this tech task we are supposed to forget about becoming a teacher, i will save it for a rainy day.

And finally I believe my learning netowrk involves everything around me. I like to believe that I am constanly learning. Whether this is true, I don’t know. But it’s a nice thought to have.

This is all for now, I have to go out and learn. Bye
